Delphi XM Signal Repeater Antenna Overviews

The XM Satellite Signal Repeater Antenna receives the broadcast of an XM Satellite Radio Signal repeater, extending the signal from the repeater up to 75′ for additional XM audio systems and/or home kits. The Repeater Antenna works with all Delphi and most XM satellite receivers. To use, connect the Repeater Antenna into the antenna input of any Delphi XM receiver and place it within 75 feet of the transmitter, which rebroadcasts the XM signal picked up through your home antenna via audio system or home kit. Multiple Repeater Antennas may be operated off one transmitter. The Repeater Antenna must be used in conjunction with the Signal Repeater as it won’t receive the XM signal by itself.

Delphi SA10101 SKYFi2 XM Satellite Radio Receiver and Remote Control CustomerReview

I have done a lot of research online and the authors all seemed to say the same thing – the Delphi SkyFi2 is the best add-on satellite car radio ever. I signed up with XM when it was about a year old in December 2002 and purchased an original Delphi SkyFi radio for my car. While that unit served its purpose, when the SkyFi2 was first offered in November 2004, I jumped at the chance to buy one and substitute it for my SkyFi.

The big upgrade, in my mind, was that while the SkyFi was an amber screen (amber letters on a dark background) and was unreadable from the driver’s seat on sunny days, the SkyFi2 was monochrome (black letters on a white background with white letters on a black background selectable) so I was able to read it easily from the driver’s seat no matter what the weather. The SkyFi2 also was the first to offer TuneSelect, a feature now standard on all XM radios. With TuneSelect, I am, over time, able to specify my 19 favorite recording artists and whenever one of their songs is played on any of the XM channels, the SkyFi2 beeps and offers to transfer me to that channel. This adds immensely to my enjoyment of my satellite radio subscription.

The SkyFi2 was also one of the first XM radios to be able to time shift, up to 30 minutes in the past. For instance, if I am listening to XM and a song comes on that I don’t care for, I can go back to one of the songs I’ve just listened to and play it again (over and over if I wish) while the radio continues to record the station I was listening to before I elected to time shift backwards (so I won’t miss anything while I’m time shifted).

The SkyFi2 was one of the first XM radios to come with a built-in FM modulator so I can play my XM radio through my car’s stereo system by tuning to an FM channel of my choosing from an extensive pre-selected list. Finally, what makes the SkyFi2 unique from all other XM radios is that it offers up to -30- (not 20 but 30) preset stations. I have four bands on my SkyFi2, Bands A, B, and C and Direct and each of the A, B, and C bands has 10 preselect keys. Now I can list my ten favorite stations (such as my personal favorite, Watercolors (XM Channel 71), which is the sole reason I subscribed to XM back in 2002) on Band A and then news/sports and lesser favorite music channels on Bands B and C. I find this a great feature.

No the SkyFi2 doesn’t have a color screen and isn’t an iPod which connects to XM through a SkyDock or WiFi, but it has loads of features that make it indispensable to me. As a bonus, the unit also ships with a Car Kit to install in your car so you can listen to the radio there. My initial reaction was “I don’t need this – I already have a Car Kit”, but then my antenna died for no reason whatsoever (which I’d never heard of happening although I guess its quite common) and it was great to be able to tell the technician at Best Buy who hooked it up that I already had the parts he needed to replace my dead antenna.

Delphi Sa 10034 Skyfi Cd Audio System Overviews

The Delphi SA 10034 SKYFi CD Audio System is designed to dock your SKYFi XM receiver. It perfect for enjoying your XM radio at work, the beach, or just about anywhere you want. It also plays CD, CD-R/RW & MP3 and includes a AM/FM tuner.

Delphi Sa 10034 Skyfi Cd Audio System RelateItems

Delphi Sa 10034 Skyfi Cd Audio System Specifications

Offering surprisingly good sound for its diminutive size, the SA10034 portable audio system from Delphi is a terrific way to enjoy your XM satellite radio subscription and MP3 CDs at home or on the go. The system, just 20 inches across, is easy to carry, easy to position, and hard to turn off, thanks to its impressive abilities and engaging performance. The boombox is designed for use with Delphi’s SA10000 XM SKYFi radio receiver, but it will operate independently of the receiver for CD playback or analog FM/AM radio reception.

Delphi uses a clever pivoting center unit that houses an XM receiver dock on one side and a CD transport/analog tuner on the flip side–just spin it backward or pull it forward to enjoy your desired source. As an XM radio interface, the boombox is first-rate. The XM SKYFi receiver locks in securely and the boombox carry handle is flexible but durable.

We were impressed with the bass output from the system’s small, relatively flat speakers, and midrange and treble frequencies sounded smoother and more balanced than expected. We listened with ease for hours at a stretch. The system seems to process stereo signals to make them wider and more spacious than they’d otherwise sound from speakers fixed less than 10 inches apart, but the effect is not unpleasant.

Crucially, the boombox–unlike the XM receiver itself–offers a headphone jack, letting you plug the system into an integrated amplifier or surround receiver for listening through your usual speakers. (A minijack-to-stereo-RCA “Y” adapter cable is not included.) Sound from the headphone jack is not processed for wide stereo. XM navigation, wholly the province of the SA10000 receiver, is terrific, and the remote control supplied with the boombox operates both the boombox and your XM receiver, so you don’t need both remotes on hand.

The CD transport appears to have been cheaply integrated, resulting in audible electrical noise whenever a disc is spinning or skipping to a new track. Luckily, discs spin only part of the time–just long enough to load the music into a memory buffer. With MP3 CDs, the buffer will hold a song or more. With audio CDs, however, discs will spin for about a minute, rest for 20 seconds, then commence spinning. If you’re listening at a loud level to music that is fairly loud itself, you probably won’t notice the noise. But with close or quiet listening to jazz, classical, or folk, the sputtering can be bothersome.

The CD player’s LCD shows the number of directories (folders) and the number of tracks on a disc at startup. The display does not permit macro folder/file navigation, so if you don’t know the folder and track numbers for the file you want to hear, you’ll have to browse by ear or by specific file name as you skip through the tracks (folder names are not displayed).

We experienced occasional audio glitches during MP3 CD playback, even during stable indoor use. Still, it’s nice to have the ability to listen to or shuffle through an MP3 CD, especially on the go: just load 6 D batteries, dock an XM receiver, and bring the included XM antenna and a single multihour MP3 CD for fail-safe musical enjoyment.

The boombox’s XM’s satellite reception is great. Outdoors, maintain clear overhead visibility (don’t expect pristine reception under a massive bridge, for instance). Every location will be different, but it’s worth noting that, indoors, we encountered no XM radio dropouts or service interruptions during our review period, either with the recommended south-facing antenna position or from an east-facing position used for much of our listening. The signal intensity varied, but reception was always solid. –Michael Mikesell

Pros:

  • Remote control operates both the boombox and your XM receiver
  • Rugged design, truly portable
  • Cool flip-around CD/XM receiver design
  • Plays MP3 CDs, includes FM/AM radio
  • Excellent tracking of disc playback while unit is in motion
  • Surprising amount of bass from small speakers
  • Natural-sounding vocals with clear treble reproduction
  • Handle offers thermoplastic rubber grip
  • Displays file names for MP3 tracks lacking ID3 tags
  • Works with rechargeable batteries

Cons:

  • Audio CDs are highly susceptible to electrical noise when disc is in motion or changing tracks
  • Slow CD track changes while transport gets up to speed
  • Occasional stuttering when playing MP3 tracks
  • Does not display MP3 folder/directory names
  • Volume up/down buttons rather than rotary knob for CD listening
  • XM category up/down buttons hard to access on boombox remote

What’s in the Box
Boombox, remote control, 2 AAA remote batteries, an XM satellite antenna, an AC power supply, a user’s manual, and a quick-start guide.

Delphi Sa 10034 Skyfi Cd Audio System CustomerReview

We have owned this system for several years now. Very good sound for it’s size. Lots of features. None of the problems noted in the other reviews other than the instruction manual not being correct/clear. Only item that bugs me is that the unit always remains in the standby mode, a problem if the batteries are used then not removed when done. It will drain the batteries all the way down, a real problem if rechargables are used. Other than that, wouldn’t leave home without it!

Delphi SA10307 Premium Sound System Adapter CustomerReview

The First reviewer for the Delphi SA10307 Premium Sound System Adapter had a terrible experience – and I don’t doubt him. But, it works fine for me. I have the Delphi SA10221 XM Portable Satellite Radio Boombox and a Pioneer Inno XM radio. My Inno works fine on the boombox using this adapter, and the remote controls the Inno and boombox combination fine, etc. (I haven’t tried recording to the Inno’s memory yet though.) I found a boombox review that mentioned this combo working and gave it a try.
Why is mine working? Who knows. My Inno is an original Inno 1, (main difference is it has the “real” FM modulator, that they crippled in the Inno2 due to FCC request – but I don’t use the modulator, even in the car.) Also the boombox was sitting on the shelf at an “off the WALL national discount MART” for a while. (Got Inno and Boombox on HEAVY clearance, then picked up several accessories here on Amazon!) (Side note: the Delphi 900MHz Wireless XM Repeater works well attached to the back of the Boombox.)
So, my Inno and Boombox are early production. Maybe that made a difference? Bottom line: the adapter worked for me (and another reviewer elsewhere on Amazon). Maybe it will work for you too.

Delphi MyFi XM2GO Portable XM Satellite Radio Receiver with Home / Car Kits RelateItems

Delphi MyFi XM2GO Portable XM Satellite Radio Receiver with Home / Car Kits Specifications

Amazon.com Review The biggest boost yet for satellite radiohas to be Delphi’s radiant MyFi XM2GO portable satellite radio receiver and digital music player. The MyFi can record and play back up to 5 hours of XM’s digital programming whenever and wherever you choose. It requires a subscription to XM satellite radio (.95/month), but just

Compact and easy, to use the MyFi offers 150 XM satellite channels.

about everything else you could want for home, outdoor, or car listening comes in the box. XM’s 150 channels include 67 commercial-free music channels as well as premier news, sports, talk, traffic, and weather listings.

The MyFi comes with a densely packed carton of accessories, including everything from headphones and antennas to a remote control, belt clips, and separate docking apparatus for integrating the receiver with your home and car stereos.

Smaller than a PDA, the receiver exudes greatness even before you hear it: it’s just heavy enough to seem solidly built yet light enough to merit the term “portable.” The receiver even comes with world-class manuals, from its tips sheet to the longer quick-start guide to the 42-page user’s manual (separate English and Spanish editions of each are provided).

An illuminated six-line LCD is your gateway to browsing XM’s programming. You can browse by station, by category, or (our favorite) by currently playing artist. Thirty channel presets simplify access to your favorites, and a handy memo button stores artist and song data for up to 20 performances you’d like to look into later (or find again on XM).

Any satellite radio system requires a fairly heavy-duty antenna. Accordingly, the MyFi comes with four: one for the home (place it in a south-facing window), one for the car (mount it on the roof or trunk), a clip-on antenna for when you’re hoofing it, and a built-in antenna. Our home reception was perfect–we never experienced a single drop out. Car reception was spottier, though still excellent. You just have to get used to the fact that where analog radio gets noisier in areas with poor reception, satellite radio drops out altogether; it’s either all there, crystal clear, or all absent. And that’s where My XM, MyFi’s recording feature, comes in handy.

The MyFi mounts easily in most vehicles.

My XM lets you record XM programming to MyFi’s onboard memory–perfect for time shifting your listening (as with a news program or a scheduled performance on XM Live) or for tuning in when you’ll be someplace lacking XM reception (in a canyon, on a subway, in a windowless cubicle, etc.). You can schedule a recording or start and stop recording at any time you wish, and new recordings pick up where you last stopped. But you can’t erase anything unless you clear the memory–which means you can’t whittle away songs you don’t like to retain your favorites. It’s also important to remember that when you’ve filled the unit’s memory (128 MB, or 5+ hours of full bitrate XM radio), it’ll record over earlier material, starting from the top. During playback, however, My XM lets you skip easily from track to track and even pick from a list of all tracks.

You can configure the MyFi’s LCD to scroll stock and sports-score tickers, a great way to keep an eye on important stats. The receiver also features a built-in sleep timer (15 minutes to 1 hour) and an alarm clock (wake to a beep or to XM programming).

What’s in the Box

For car use, you have a choice of mounting options for the vehicle cradle: flush mount, vent mount, or swivel mount. The cradle houses a power jack for a DC vehicle power adapter (included), an antenna input, and an audio output for use with the provided cassette-shell audio adapter. You can use the cassette adapter or the MyFi’s built-in wireless FM transmitter, which turns any FM radio into an XM radio. (Audio quality is better using the supplied cassette audio adapter, however. You may also purchase a wired FM adapter, though XM asserts that the cassette adapter sounds better than that, too.)

The Delphi XM MyFi comes complete with all of the accessories needed to enjoy XM anywhere.

Positioning the car antenna can be inelegant, despite its heavy-duty magnet. You can have it professionally installed or live with an exposed antenna cord, though XM recommends using “existing holes, body grommets, and other wiring channels” rather than closing a door over the cord on a daily basis. The receiver’s battery pack proved good for about five hours between charges. The included earbud headphones are neither comfortable nor particularly well made; a nicer set would represent XM’s strong sound quality. –Michael Mikesell

Pros:

  • Truly portable satellite-radio receiver
  • Simple setup
  • Includes a wealth of accessories
  • Excellent sound quality
  • Great reception indoors and out
  • Convenient five-hour recording mode
  • Lets you skip from song to song while playing recordings
  • Well-written manuals
  • Permits channel browsing while listening

Cons:

  • Car antenna tricky to arrange for permanent use
  • No hold switch
  • Can’t save or delete specific recorded tracks
  • No elapsed-time or time-remaining displays for live or recorded programming

MyFi receiver with a clip-on antenna, an integrated rechargeable battery, a complete home accessory kit (with antenna and audio cable), a complete vehicle accessory kit (with antenna), stereo earbud headphones, a remote control, a remote battery, a belt clip/stand, a protective carrying case, and quick-start guides and user’s manuals in English and Spanish.

Delphi MyFi XM2GO Portable XM Satellite Radio Receiver with Home / Car Kits CustomerReview

The title of my reviews says it all. Even though the XM2GO was released years ago, and two generations of satellite radios have been released since, being the Inno and the XMP3, the XM2GO is still a great radio to buy used if you don’t want to buy a new one. And even if purchased new it a great value because of all of the features that are included in the radio. Now it doesn’t have a color screen, and some times the portable reception is spotty. It doesn’t record individual songs per say, but rather block of recording time, that you can either schedule or turn on and off when ever you want them too.

One aspect of the XM2GO being an older model is the really strong FM modulator which is included in the receiver. Even though I live in the LA area the FM modulator still gives me pretty good clarity which you cannot get with a newer radio out of the box, like the XM2GO comes.

Pros -
Tune select
Portable
You can set a recording schedule
Display is easy to read
Very durable plastic body, can take plenty of hard falls
Scrolling scores and stocks
Strong FM Modulator
Replacement parts are fairly easy to find on Amazon.com and ebay
Comes with a nice remote control
Car kit really locks the XM2GO in tight, no falling out while driving
Save up to 30 presets

Cons –
No color screen
You can only see one station at a time, unlike the Xpress R or RC
Does not record individual songs, like the Inno or XMP3
Battery life is suspect
Controls are laid out sorta clumsy, including the side dial to change channels

I bought this particular receiver because I wanted value and a full service XM Radio. I spent more than half the cost of even a used XMP3 for this XM2GO, and it does a good job for me. Plus I don’t have to feel so bad about dropping it.

Delphi SA10085 Roady2 XM Satellite Radio Receiver with Built-in Wireless FM Modulator CustomerReview

Had first gotten a brand new unit from XM Radio directly which had horrible reception. Then a friend that already owned this particular Roady2 model, which is a few years old, but worked perfectly in my car. So I was very happy to find this one online. It works great because it has the FM modulator built in, which makes all the difference. Thanks!!
