Music Hall 50 Watt Channel Integrated Amp Overviews
Music Hall’s Roy Hall was frustrated by the state of stereo integrated amplifiers today. According to Roy, either you paid a lot of money for a really good quality amp, or you paid a bargain price for a poorly performing component. But all that has changed with the development of the Musical Hall a25.2. “The a25.2 integrated delivered an easy, sweet, smooth, ingratiating sound with not the slightest suggestion of listening fatigue,” reports Sam Tellig in the April 2006 issue of Stereophile. In fact, the Music Hall earns a “Recommended Components” listing in the same issue. “The first words that leap to mind with the Music Hall amp/CD player combo are bold, big, brassy, and dynamic,” writes Ken Micallef in his Audio Files review of the a25.2 integrated amp and the CD 25.2 CD player. “Audio Nerds often use an archaic term reeking of stuffy British living rooms (the Brits invented serious audio listening) when they feel their stereo is kicking major butt – PRAT. Defined to normal, non-obsessive folk, PRAT means pace, rhythm, and timing. The Music Hall tag team does the PRAT thing in explosive colors.” Delivering 50-watts-per-channel at 8 ohms (and 100-watts-per-channel at 4 ohms ) the a25.2 has the look, sound, and feel of “old fashioned hi-fi, the way it used to be,” says Roy. However, the a25.2 is state-of-the-art all the way. Amplitude is regulated with a digitally-controlled analog audio volume control PGA 2311 IC fro, Texas Instruments that’s known for its accuracy, reliability, and extremely quiet operation. Don’t be fooled by the low price of the a25.2. This is a serious piece of audio gear from start to finish, inside and out. Doing justice to the sophisticated internal circuitry is a heavy, rigid chassis with a thick, brushed aluminum faceplate. Its look complements flagship Music Hall audio products like the Mambo and Maven.
