I bought this item and a pair of 6″ waterproof speakers to go with it. I was unable to install the plastic cover due to limited space, but it works fine without it. The sound is good. Plenty of volume for listening inside of the boat, which is all I was after. It reads MP3s off of discs, which is a great feature. You can get several hours of music onto one CD. I haven’t had it out in the water yet to test the skip resistance, but I planned on using it with a portable MP3 player so I wouldn’t have to worry about skipping anyway.
